Demos » Sending Your Music To veedee

Thank you for thinking of veedee Records. We love to hear your music. It is truly one of our favorite things to do. We salute all of the "next big things" who labor in obscurity. Fame is relative after all. But before you slap the postage on your submission, please read the helpful hints and information we've compiled below.

Demos » Helpful Hints

  1. We like many different kinds of music. After all, you're at our site, you can see our eclectic tendencies for yourself. If your music is unique and different, that is good. We often get demos from people thinking we are a hard-core, hip-hop, or metal label - we are not, in fact. If you make this or any kind of mainstream pop music, we probably are not the label to help you achieve fortune and fame. We do listen to every demo we receive.
  2. Typically, the record business is set up as a sort of loan system. A record company gives you money to complete an album and you have to repay them plus interest … lots of interest. With the relative ease of making a self-produced recording these days, why on earth would you want to owe a big media conglomerate? A very good question.

We don't operate according to their paradigm. Accordingly, we don't have much money to speak of. What we do have is passion and know how - these more than make up for our lack of funds. If you haven't read our "about us" section, please do so now.

  3. What major record labels can offer: Boatloads of money, truckloads of women, and a lifetime of indentured servitude.
  4. What veedee Records can offer: none of these things - we swore off boats, trucks, and indentured servants long ago.
  5. We accept submissions via CD, vinyl, or cassette.
  6. Be patient. As our 'A&R' decision makers are spread all across the country (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), it can sometimes take a while for us to get back to you.
  7. Should things not work out, we forbid you to give up. Just because we were the tenth label this week to reject your band doesn't mean your music isn't good. Even if you send something to every single label in the world and are summarily rejected by each and every one, you may not give up. Chances are your music is important to someone - don't let them down by throwing in the towel.
